Instead of painting high on the sugar of that decadent lost age in art, Cotton updates his opulent source material by replacing pastoral love scenes with mountains of sweets and erotic treats. Candy for Cotton is what dark lush forests were for the 18th masters; an ideal of plenty and a site for temptation. There are no consequences depicted in these hedonistic scenes, but viewers know that outside the fantasy indulgence will have its price. Whether the models are his scenes' protagonists, or just eye-candy, they never appear satiated or at peace. As we know, Candy may satisfy emotional needs and frivolous fancies, but in the end it only distracts the body from its genuine hungers, producing fat not fulfilment. Like the fatty foods he paints, Cotton's paintings might appear light, but they are heavy with meaning.

A few Mondays back, I was invited by Lili Von Schtupp to attend her ultra fabulous MONDAY NIGHT TEASE (LA's Longest Running Weekly Burlesque Show)at The 3 of Clubs. It was a very special occasion, that I was thrilled to be invited to! One of my Favorite People in the whole wide world - The One and Only MZ SATAN'S ANGEL, was scheduled to twirl her flaming "Ta Ta's" for the last time ever in La La Land, before retiring to Australia.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with our beloved Angel, let me tell you a little bit about this very fascinating Temptress who happens to be a Legendary Burlesque Queen...

Satan's Angel began her burlesque career in 1961 in San Francisco. She toured with Bob Hope & the USO, appeared on the Gypsy Rose Lee television show, dated Clint Eastwood, Bobby Darin, Hedy Lamarr, and Janis Joplin, defied the convention of The Folies Bergéré in Paris, and worked with Ann Corio, Harold Minsky, Barry Ashton while running with The Rat Pack in Vegas. This Lady has some stories... Everyone who knows her is eagerly awaiting her memoirs!

Angel is true Burlesque STAR, who traveled around the world, known as Satan’s Angel -Her full moniker is, "Satan’s Angel, the Devil’s Own Mistress, Queen of the Fire Tassels." She is the QUEEN and ORIGINATOR of fire tassel twirling! She has performed this act for over 40 years, lighting her tassels approximately 25,000 times all over the world! In 2007, she won “America’s Most Outrageous Talent” award on The Maury Povich Show, & in 2009, Angel received the "LEGEND AWARD" for Life Time Achievement in Burlesque. In her own words, "The fire tassels was something I came up with after I talked to one of the dancers at the Moulin Rouge. Her name escapes me, but she was a little older, I was about 18 at the time and she was 35. I talked to her and she asked me “what do you do? What’s your thing?” And I said “I twirl tassels.” And she said “oh, they all do that, these days. You need something to stand out, honey, you need a gimmick!” And she was right, it wasn’t enough to just twirl tassels. There were girls out there who did that as well as one could, already. Like Tura Satana—who was, somehow, my competition—she would bend over backwards twirling her tassels. So I asked “What do you want me to do? Light the tassels on fire?!” And she said “Now, there’s an idea!

Her words were recently twisted and misunderstood, and now Gisele Bundchen is setting the record straight.

While promoting her skincare line Sejaa recently, the Victoria’s Secret model recently was quoted as saying, “I cannot put this poison on my skin. I do not use anything synthetic” when talking about certain products that contain SPF.

Taking that and running with it, reports quickly claimed that Bundchen said that she doesn’t wear sunscreen at all because it’s poison.

Her rep quickly attempted to clear the air by making this statement: “They misquoted her due to a language barrier. Gisele would never say not to use sunscreen because she has family members who have had skin cancer.”


The real story is that Gisele does use sunscreen – just not harsh formulations.

“When using sunscreens she selects ones that are free of parabens, oxybenzone, PABA, and retinyl palmitate,” says the rep. “She buys her sunscreen at Whole Foods, so she can find ones that are free of harsh chemicals.”

They say third times a charm, but for Tony Hawk that’s not the deal.

After five years of marriage, the pro skater and wife, Lhotse Merriam, filed for divorce on Friday (February 4).

The couple released a joint statement earlier today (February 7) stating, "We have made the difficult decision to file for divorce.”

"We remain deeply committed and loving parents to our daughter, and out of respect for that responsibility we ask that people honor our family's privacy during this important time of transition," the statement continues. "Thank you for your understanding."

Hawk and Merriam have one child together, Kadence Clover Hawk, who was born in June 2008.

A few weeks ago, various sources around the Internet starting buzzing on one particular subject: ‘Crystal Renn’s agency lists the ‘plus-size’ model as a size 2′. A size 2 with the corresponding measurements of a standard model! A few days after the initial buzz, Crystal Renn’s agent, Gary Dakin, responded:

“There was an error in the initial printing and it is being rectified. She maintains a 37-38 hip. But if people have truly followed her message, it is about acceptance and beauty at any size”.

Let’s see some of Crystal Renn’s recent statements:

With plus size modeling, the sizes start at an 8 and go all the way up to a 20, and that enrages many people. They say when they see a size 10 girl, that’s plus size? They have to realize that plus size model doesn’t mean plus size woman… But bridging the gap would be a very good thing. We need to have all sizes. This isn’t a them against us fight. It’s about bringing everybody together.

Because of my size currently, I straddle this line between the two worlds–I guess you could say I’m a plus size straight size model. I am four inches smaller than a plus size model and four inches bigger than a straight size model.

At this point, Crystal Renn’s (who still claims to be a size 8US) measurements on various agency cards and fashion model sites are listed as: 34C-28.5-38 / 85-73-97 (cm).

She’s facing grand theft charges for allegedly lifting a $2500 necklace from a Venice, California jewelry store, and now Lindsay Lohan may be arrested and paraded in front of the Los Angeles Police Station.

According to TMZ, the “Mean Girls” actress could be the subject of an arrest warrant that would give cops the option to pick her up, cuff her, and take her to central booking.

Despite the fact that  Lindsay Lohan’s charges are shoplifting-related, the LAPD may decide to have Lindsay do a ‘perp walk’ as a message to other would-be kleptomaniacs.


The charges could be filed as early as today (February 7), thereby giving Lindsay little time to figure out a publicity-avoiding strategy.

She’s up for her third Oscar trophy, and Nicole Kidman freaked her daughter Sunday Rose out when she cried over the news.

The “Moulin Rouge” mommy told press that she wept tears of joy upon learning of her “Rabbit Hole” nomination.

She explained, “Poor Sunday. They said my name and Keith [Urban] was like, ‘Yeah!’ and jumping around the kitchen.”


“And Sunday is like, ‘What’s happening? Why are you crying?’ Because I was crying. She said, ‘Why are we sad?’ I said, ‘No. We’re not sad, Sunday. We’re happy.’ So that would be my memory of this nomination- my daughter and my husband jumping around the kitchen.
